As per New Brunswick's Occupational Health and Safety Act section 8.1, organizations are required to have a formal safety program if they have a workforce of 20 or more people developed in consultation with the joint health and safety committee or representative. Small organizations or employers with fewer than 20 workers still require a health and safety program but these programs can be simpler or 'less formal'.
